New faculty members
Fourteen new faculty members joined our staff over the last year. In this issue of NeonatalNews.Net, we are pleased to spotlight our newest community-based physicians. We are proud of their growing role serving our nursery populations at community hospitals throughout the greater Houston area, in partnership with Texas Children’s Hospital.

Carrasquillo |
Elsie J. Carrasquillo, D.O., joined us in January 2005 as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. Dr. Carrasquillo received her degree in osteopathic medicine from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville, Missouri, in 1991 and completed her residency in 1995 at Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center of West Virginia University, Charleston, West Virginia.

Cooper |
Timothy R. Cooper, M.D., returned to our faculty as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in December 2004. Dr. Cooper received his medical degree in 1979 from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, where he also completed his pediatric residency (1982) and his neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship (1984).

Fuller |
Lisa R. Fuller, M.D., joined us in February 2005 as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. Dr. Fuller completed her medical studies in New Orleans, receiving her medical degree in 1998 from Louisiana State University School of Medicine and completing her pediatric residency in 2001 at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.

Geddie |
S. Gwynn A. Geddie, M.D., joined us in August as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. He earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Texas (1987), pediatric internship and residency at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas (1988–90), and was a neonatal-perinatal medicine fellow at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver (1990–93).
Kwabena O. Sarpong, M.D., (no photo available), is an Instructor of Pediatrics who joined us in July. He attended the School of Medical Sciences, University of Science and Technology (1996), Kumasi, Ghana, and had a pediatric residency at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, New York (2002–05).

Williams |
Laura Williams, M.D., joined us July 2004 as Instructor of Pediatrics. Dr. Williams received her medical degree in 2001 from the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky, and completed her pediatric residency in 2004 at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.
